Annual Schedule: Rotary Club of Redding’s Scholarship Applications are available beginning in January and are due February every year.  Scholarship awards are announced in April each year, with recipients invited to attend a Rotary Club of Redding luncheon (April 24, 2025) to receive their award.

Eligibility: This Scholarship Program is only eligible for students who attend certain Redding-based schools, including Shasta High School, University Preparatory School, Pioneer High School, Stellar Charter School, and Shasta College.

One-Time Award: Rotary Club of Redding Scholarships are only available one time to any applicant.  Winning scholarship recipients may not apply for additional scholarships for subsequent years.

Application Format: The scholarship application is a fillable form file; applications also require a copy of a current high school transcript, two essay responses, and three letters of recommendation.

Award Criteria: Rotary’s Motto is “Service Above Self,” and that is the one thing that all winning applicants have in common.  Scholarship recipients must demonstrate a willingness to help others in their community while furthering their own educational goals. Scholarships are awarded based on various criteria, including community service, educational merit, and financial need. Awards are given in a variety of amounts at the discretion of the Rotary Club of Redding. In the past, scholarship awards have ranged from $500 to $5,000.

Requirements for Scholarship Winners: Winning scholarship recipients are required to perform a minimum of 10 hours of community service for a non-profit of their choice in the calendar year in which they receive the award. They are also required to enroll in continuing education (trade school, college, or university) at least part-time for the fall semester following their award announcement.

Scholarship Payments: Scholarship payments are made directly to the educational institution the applicant enrolls in for the fall semester (following their award announcement) to pay for tuition costs.
